How to Become a Dental Assistant in Florida

Florida is one of the best states to launch a career as a dental assistant. Unlike some states, Florida does not require the national Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential to work as a dental assistant — this requirement was eliminated in May 2009.

Training for expanded functions

To perform expanded duties, you must complete formal training through a CODA-accredited program or a Florida Board-approved Expanded Duties Formal Training Program. Our Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions program is designed exactly for this.
